Please Help!
At Christ Church Kilmeen, the lead in the windows has come to the end of its life and the glass of the lancet windows of the south wall is buckling dangerously. With a high wind or slight pressure the windows could completely break up. We are saving the original glass and replacing old lead with new. This is a delicate job needing a highly specialist stained glass window maker and experienced professionals to take out and put back each lancet (panel). Some years ago the middle lancets were restored in a similar way and are still in good order.
Christ Church Kilmeen is a beautiful, heritage church, standing on an ancient site; a gracious monument to past generations and generations to come; a place of prayer, giving witness to God in a lovely rural situation.
Some Unions have to have huge time-consuming fundraising for major restoration of their church or churches. In this Union, over the years, much maintenance work has been carried out as needed and funded by generous individuals in time and skill as well as in finance. This particular project, because of its very nature needs delicate and specialist attention, which costs much money.
Consider giving in memory of a loved one.
Donations of any amount no matter how
large/small are needed. However €1250 will buy one panel or lancet window.
(There are three windows with two lancets or panels - in each to be paid for.)
Those who buy one lancet (panel) will have the private optional choice of a
plaque in memory of a loved one and/or wording to their choice in consultation
with the Rector.
There will also be a general plaque to record
the date and work done on these windows.
