I see from my diary that this magazine will be read by everyone just as we are announcing the names of our new Select Vestry, new Wardens, Diocesan Synod members and Parochial Nominators. I would therefore like to THANK EVERYBODY who gives of their time and talent to the life of the churches in this Union – even those without any special title or named job. We are all important – important to the church that we are there Sunday by Sunday contributing to the worship of our churches by being there and to how we are, discerning God’s way for us during the week in our homes and places of work.

Our Lent Group meetings shared with members of the Methodist congregation were full of variety. The Rector showing off her new Power Point skills (Confirmation Classes have been revolutionised by Power Point) and Rev John Purdy showing extracts of the film The Passion and David Bourne leading with his valued insights and wisdom. On one of the evenings we combined with the Mothers Union before their AGM for a Eucharist in the round presided by the Rector.

Both schools have had a visit from Karoly Beres from Serbia (a Christian Aid partner) when we had a fascinating time learning about his work. Andrew Coleman presently working for Christian Aid will be giving a talk at the churches on 10th April.

The Girls’ Brigade end of session Party is on Friday 15th April – we are planning an evening of games and a sit down meal together. We have thoroughly enjoyed the input of the Methodist Mission Team and wish them all the best for what ever they do in the future.

We look forward to the Baptism of Eva Lamb on 17th April at Desertserges. As Eva is just old enough to know what is going on (she’s 2yrs) the Rector is going to have an interesting time by way of baptism preparation with a few dollies/teddies being ‘Christened’ as well to let Eva get the idea!

Joe Moore is back home and much better as is Rev. David Llewellyn and Barney Coombes both after minor operations.
