The West Cork Rally may mean we have to reschedule on Palm Sunday. The Rector has been in touch with the organisers and will hopefully hear soon. (No problems this year as the rally is now rerouted..)
We again shared Communion and imposition of Ashes with our Methodist friends on Ash Wednesday, with much of the worship led by the Methodist Youth Team on mission in West Cork (they’re dab hands with Power Point presentation!) at the time of writing we look forward to shared Lent Groups.
We have also benefited enormously by the enthusiasm and energy of the Methodist Team (four young men, one young woman) at Girls’ Brigade. I am sure ‘GB purists’ would squirm with the though of four young men present, but we are enjoying a good Youth Club atmosphere with an emphasis on team games and lively worship. This is good as we begin to look forward to integrating our young people into the Joy Club system later this year. The Rector with the help of Mrs Heather Shorten, Mrs Grace Hosford and ‘the Team’ having been leading Girls’ Brigade whilst Capt. Susan Smith recovers from her operation. We offer her our best wishes.
Our Confirmation candidates this year are Sheryl Deane, Charlotte Elstob, Adam Shorten, Lindsay Shorten, Peter Shorten and Jonathan Readman, although any one of them may change their minds if they want to! Please pray for them. We look forward to the Confirmation service on 29th May at St Patrick’s, Farranthomas.
The Good Friday happening will be at Desertserges this year. As the format will be different and some walking is involved, we ask that as many parents /responsible adults as possible are present for the full Three Hours. Application forms available now from the Rector. We take Safeguarding Trust seriously in this parish.
Our next Vestry meeting is on Tuesday 15th March at 8.30pm and the Easter Vestry AGM at Kilmeen Hall following the 10.30am Parish Communion on Sunday 3rd April.
In hospital Joe Moore has been poorly and we hope that by the time you are reading this he’ll be much better. David Llewellyn has also been in hospital for various tests for various complaints. Again, by the time this magazine is out, we hope he will be restored to his usual self.
