Mothering Sunday will have passed by the time you read this but thanks in advance for all those who helped with flowers and the children who helped to lead the worship.

Barney Coombes successfully had his hip replacement and generally speaking has done well. At the time of writing he is convalescing at Bushmount in Clonakilty.

Members of the parish together with Roman Catholic and Methodist friends enjoyed a wonderful 90th Birthday party for Muriel Brookes at St Paul's Parish Centre on 4th March.

On the Women’s World Day of Prayer we welcomed both the Rev Ruth Jackson at St Joseph’s Castletown and Jennifer Sleeman at Christ Church Kilmeen. Every one enjoyed the Prayer of Praise – a play on the Benedicite.  The rector (for fun) has already rewritten it for Kinneigh Union. Here’s just a bit of it……….

All you BIG things, praise the Lord. Huge tractors and
Creamery Trucks, River Bandon Valley, high hills and rocks,
long country roads and farmland . . ………

All you SHARP things, praise the Lord. Yellow gorse bushes and
brambles, glass and barbed wire fences . . .
All you SOFT things, praise the Lord. Green wet moss and damp grass,
rain and bog, babies' skin and potato salad………..

All you SLOW things, praise the Lord. Huge big
machinery and munching cows, old people remembering and
the season’s passing…………….

All you SPIRITUAL things, praise the Lord. Uplifting
music, psalms and prayers, Ancient Tower at Kinneigh, our churches

and graveyards, people together receiving God's gifts . . .
ALL: PRAISE THE LORD AND BLESS HIS NAME

As I write we are involved in the initiative to consider the Communion of the Baptised but Unconfirmed.  The Power Point Presentation has sparked some interesting conversations, which is the whole point of the exercise……..‘What do You think?’ ……..not just what does the Rector think!

Easter is a busy point in the life of the church; not least it is, in the Church of Ireland, the time for elections (or in many cases, re-election) to the Select Vestry and the tasks of Wardens. Please elect prayerfully and thoughtfully and be present for the Easter General Vestry on 23rd April at Farranthomas after the 10.30 Eucharist.

Our best wishes go to the family and friends of Sarah Patricia Hosford (neé Perrott) who everyone knew as Pat. She died peacefully on 7th March, and is buried at Kilowen graveyard. Born in 1922 she was a tireless worker when Kilowen church was still open; so many people remember her in her prime, with her wonderful sense of enjoyment, enthusiasm and hard work.
