At the time of writing we look forward to Maundy Thursday and our ecumenical fellowship with Ballineen Methodist Church, then the Good Friday Three Hours Workshop at Farranthomas

On Easter Eve we will have had  the service of Lighting the Easter Candle and the baptism of the Grunwell family at Kinneigh Church. We welcome Neil, Joanna, Ryan, Nathan and Solomon Grunwell as members of the church.

Hopefully all these Holy Week activities and Easter itself, together with the General Vestry Meeting on 23rd April, will be reported in next months’ magazine. I say ‘hopefully,’ as I’m taking a wonderful opportunity to see various friends in America and Australia during May. Someone else will be kindly writing Kinneigh Notes for June!

Three of the churches now have a good quality sound system for the hard of hearing and already our worship has been enhanced. We have been helped in one case with a generous legacy. If you wear a hearing aid, change your aid to T. Other people who are hard of hearing but don’t wear hearing aids are also finding the system very helpful.

Our congratulations go to Norman and Mary Brookes on their Golden Wedding Anniversary last month. A great gathering of family and friends (from all the denominations) met at the Castle Ahan in Enniskean. One of the guests was Barney Coombes – much recovered from his hip operation. In the past he and his wife would have been the first to be up and dancing, but it was lovely that he was there enjoying the music and meeting people.

Ethel Shorten has made a remarkable recover after her knee replacement and plans to be back at the organ for Easter Day.  After a few months where many people seemed to have influenza or illnesses of a viral nature and other illness, let’s hope for a more healthy summer.

Congratulations to Desertserges School on being given a generous grant to go towards the building of permanent classrooms.

We in Kinneigh Union join with the rest of the diocese in wishing Dean Michael Burrows and his family all the very best for their new chapter in life!
