The programme for Confirmation Classes will be out by now and most people signed up. If you are reading this and know of anyone who is probably ready but hasn’t seen the Rector, please get in touch straight away.  Confirmation is on Sunday 6th May at Kinneigh.

Looking back, we had an excellent Covenant Service at Kinneigh with the Ballineen Methodists. It is fitting to have this service at the beginning of a new year as we renew our commitment to God and to each other. I hope this will become a regular and annual event.  Another highlight over the Christmas period was the Ecumenical carol service at St Joseph’s, Castletown, where we all held hands as a gesture of our unity in Christ.

At the beginning of term, Ballymoney National School welcomed Mrs Hamida Pall as their new assistant teacher. Mrs Pall brings many talents and wide experience with her. She also has a deep understanding of the locality, as she too was once a pupil at Ballymoney.

The ‘Crafters’ has restarted – this the name we have taken on to include everyone who is contributing time and effort in the creation of Quilt Hangings depicting the life of the church and wider community in Kinneigh Union.

The south facing lancets in windows at Christ Church, Kilmeen, have now been releaded with the help of Methuselah Stained Glass at Old Corn Mills, Drimoleague. Bobby and Francis Buttimer have undertaken the expert dismantling and replacing of panels. It has been a magnificent well-organised project.  Geoffrey at Methuselah was so impressed; he made Francis a special glass roundel (a round presentation plaque in glass.) The Rector presented this to Francis together with a gift of the congregation’s appreciation to both Bobby and Francis on Christmas day morning.

Best wishes to Katie Victoria Appelbe to be baptised at Farranthomas on 28th January and to Fionn Cathal Creedon on 17th February at Desertserges. Congratulations to Seán and Dorothy Brennan on the birth of Alison during the first week of January

The Mother’s Union heard Betty Smith speak about the Irish Guide Dogs and their marvellous work. Next meeting (8.30pm 6th February) Denise Ross will talk about her ongoing Missionary Work.
